Short answer: The plugin formerly called Attestra has a new name, CertiQR, and Attestra Pro has become CertiQR Pro. It is the same plugin from the same company, Attestra Solutions; existing credentials, settings, QR codes and licence keys keep working, and the old shortcodes still work too.

Our credential plugin for WordPress has a new name: Attestra is now CertiQR, and Attestra Pro is now CertiQR Pro. The company behind it stays the same – Attestra Solutions – and so does everything you rely on.

Key takeaways

  • Same plugin, same features, same support team.
  • Existing credentials, settings and QR codes keep working.
  • Old [attestra_…] shortcodes still work.

Why Attestra is now CertiQR

Simply put, CertiQR says what the plugin does – certificates you can verify with a QR code – and it is unique to us, which matters because the plugin now appears in more places, including the WordPress.org plugin directory.

What changes now that Attestra is CertiQR

  • The admin menu now reads CertiQR.
  • New shortcode names: [certiqr_verify], [certiqr_record], [certiqr_count] and [certiqr_list].
  • Your database, settings, certificates and licence carry straight across.

What else is new in 3.45.1

  • Backups download straight to your computer, so the server never keeps a copy.
  • Admin screens keep CertiQR’s own colours, so buttons stay readable with any theme.
  • Extra security checks on every admin form.

Timeline of the rename

  • Version 3.45.1: the plugin is renamed CertiQR, and Attestra Pro becomes CertiQR Pro.
  • Same release: new [certiqr_…] shortcode names arrive, while the old ones keep working.
  • Next: the free plugin is submitted to the WordPress.org directory under the CertiQR name.

What existing customers should do now that Attestra is CertiQR

  1. First, update the plugin as usual from the Plugins screen.
  2. Then check that your verification page still loads, which it should.
  3. Optionally, switch your pages to the new shortcode names when convenient.
  4. Finally, update any internal documents that mention the old name.

In practice, most sites need to do nothing at all. Your licence key, credentials and QR codes carry straight across, so the change is mostly a new name on the menu.

What stays the same now that Attestra is CertiQR

The company behind the plugin is still Attestra Solutions, and the same team builds and supports it. Also, the database, the settings and every credential ID remain unchanged. As a result, employers who scan an old certificate see exactly the same result as before.

In addition, the WordPress.org plugin directory is a useful, independent reference if you want to read further.
